Oh Liz! Can’t thank you enough for these pics. Ben and I just watched the slideshow through and aww-d and laughed throughout. You captured so many wonderful moments — including the little meaningful ones that can be hard to notice! Blown away. Seriously. We’re both so happy.
Alayna and Ben included their adorable mini schnauzer, Maicey, in their engagement session in October at Champlain Point Lookout in Gatineau Park.

Alayna & Ben’s wedding
Which one moment will last for each of you forever?
- Sounds cliché, but walking down the aisle towards Ben. I was so excited that I apparently giggled all the way down the aisle.
- Sitting at the reception, enjoying the speeches while surrounded by all of our guests. The “hula hoop speech” is also our funniest memory. It was so memorable.
Best advice for future bride/grooms?
Set a deadline for yourself a few days before the wedding to stop working on wedding-related things. If it’s a smaller detail and it isn’t finished by then, don’t worry about it. As a bonus — you get more time to hang out with friends and family who may be in town for only a few days.
Best wedding related decision?
Can we have two? First: hiring a professional photographer. Our photos from Liz are incredible! It was so important to us to have a photographer that made us feel comfortable and really capture who we are as a couple. Liz went way above and beyond our expectations in every way.
Secondly, having our ceremony and reception at the same place. Made everything so much easier to organize, plan, setup and tear down.
What was the funniest memory from your wedding day?
For our “kissing game” during the reception, we asked guests to hula hoop for 30 seconds before we would kiss. During the speeches, our friend and MC Kyle surprised us by keeping the hula hoop going during his entire 5 minute speech. Turns out, he had practiced for weeks before the wedding. It was absolutely incredible and hilarious.
What is your favourite image from your wedding day and why?
- I love the image of us on the pier with the sailboats in the background. Such a peaceful moment. It was taken just after the ceremony wrapped up and we had a few moments to ourselves to let it all sink in.
- My favourite is the shot of me doing up my tie. It’s such a great action shot!
